Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Uganda
Uganda, Kampala
With only 700 Gorilla's in the wild left this is a once in a lifetime experience to meet these amazing animals. After an 8 hour drive , passing the equator on your way, from Kampala (the capital of Uganda) you arrive in the south of Uganda.
The Gorilla's are only living in the wild in Uganda, Congo and Rwanda. In Uganda it is the most safe and cheap.
Please make sure you have the permit for your Gorilla track at least a month in advance (high season). The permit is around 500 dollars. We arranged the permit in advnace with Matoke Tours: http://www.matoketours.com . The transport and accommodation was as well perfectly organized by Matoke.
In Uganda there are several families of Gorilla's living. We went to a 'friendly' family in Bwindi Impentrable forest (about 300 gorilla's live here).
After you get your instructions you will move into the jungle in search for the Gorilla's. Please be aware: this can take a few hours of hiking through thick bush!
But when you`ve met the endangered mountaingorilla it`s all worth it, even when you`re only aloud with the animals for one hour.. Absolutely worth it!!
If you want a beautiful base camp to stay close by, go to Lake Mutande Resort: http://mutandalakeresort.com/ This amazing place has probably the best view in Uganda! » More
