  • The International Four Days Marches Nijmegen (or Vierdaagse) is the largest marching event in the world and largest sportevent in the Netherlands. It is organised every year in mid-July as a means of individual sport and exercise. Around 45.000 participants walk 30, 40 or 50 kilometers daily, and, on completion, receive a royally approved medal (Vierdaagsekruis). On day four there is a final Parade on the so called 'Via Gladiola' with hundreds of thousands of spectators.
